Wrocław’s Old Town Hall occupies the central block of the Rynek, the medieval market square at the heart of the city. Developed between the 13th and 16th centuries, it is a distinctive example of Silesian Gothic civic architecture, reflecting the wealth and authority of the city’s merchants and council. Its eastern façade is recognizable by an elaborate gable and astronomical clock, while the southern side reveals projecting bay windows, carved stone decoration, and a contrasting rhythm of brickwork and windows. A tall tower rises above the steep tiled roofs, giving the building a markedly different silhouette from each side of the square. The historic interiors now house the Museum of Burgher Art. Surrounding rows of colorful townhouses place this former seat of municipal power within its enduring commercial setting.
