The World Trade Center in New York City is an iconic landmark that holds great historical significance. Located in the Financial District, it was made up of seven buildings, including the iconic 110-story Twin Towers, which dominated the New York City skyline until the September 11th attacks in 2001.
Though the remains of the Twin Towers were demolished shortly thereafter, the World Trade Center complex has since been replaced by three new office towers, along with a memorial honoring those who perished in the 2001 attacks. The reflecting Still Pool at the 9/11 Memorial is a popular place to visit, as are the wide variety of shops, restaurants, and other facilities in the area. The Oculus, a stunning steel-and-glass shopping center, is located in the transportation hub, offering over a hundred stores and eateries to take advantage of. While visiting, tourists can enjoy breathtaking views of the Hudson River and Statue of Liberty from the various observation decks throughout the complex.
