Stevns Klint UNESCO World Heritage is located on the coast of Denmark, in Store Heddinge, an hour away from Copenhagen. It is a prime destination for geologists and photographers alike.
This 12 km long stretch of rugged cliff on the eastern coast of the island of Stevns is made up of alternating bands of chalk and flint that show there was once life flourishing in the area. It is believed that a meteorite hit the earth here millions of years ago, leaving a crater that is now under the sea. The beach offers the opportunity to observe a range of delightful wildlife, including seals, grey geese, shearwaters, and ruffs, as well as interesting flora. From late May to early July, visitors can even find marine wildflowers, such as sea rockets and sea campions. A number of walking routes and two lookout points provide ample opportunity to take in the sweeping views of the surrounding landscape and sea. The nearby Geopark Centre offers interactive displays about the geology and history of the area.
