Williamsburg Bridge
📍 From Sidewalk, United States
The Williamsburg Bridge crosses the East River and connects the Southside district of the Lower East Side in Manhattan with the Williamsburg neighbourhood in Brooklyn. The bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge, and it was the longest of this type until 1924. The bridge has two levels of traffic - an upper level for six lanes of motor vehicles and a lower deck for the subway and four tracks of the elevated BMT Jamaica Line. Photographers can capture stunning views of Manhattan’s skyline from the Williamsburg Bridge, with landmarks such as the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center visible in the background. The south side of the bridge provides access to the Brooklyn waterfront and its many parks, or visitors can cross over to the other side and explore the vibrant neighbourhoods of the Lower East Side.
