📍 Denmark
Wikinger Schiff - Ladbydragen is a Viking ship burial site located in Kerteminde, Denmark. Archaeologists uncovered the Viking ship and its grave goods in 1935. The boat is the only example of such a longship uncovered so far in Denmark, although other Viking ship remains have been found in other Nordic countries. The boat measures 34 m in length, 5.2 m in width and 2.8 m in depth. It was made from oak carvels and is estimated to have been constructed in the 10th century. The boat was used as a funeral vessel for a wealthy Viking captain and interred in an oak truss grave with stones. Around the grave, archaeologists have discovered a range of artifacts, including glass beads, coins, and the remains of animals. The site has been excavated, and the ship has been preserved by the Kerteminde Museum. The site is now a UN World Heritage Site due to its archaeological significance. Visitors to the site can either visit the onsite museum or take a guided tour of the site.
