White and the Black Tunnel, a unique viewpoint in Genk, Belgium, is one of the most iconic sights in the region. It is a two-lane tunnel constructed in 1971, which passes beneath the Albert Canal. The sides of the tunnel are faced in white and black tiles, creating a striking visual effect. It is possible to admire the tunnel while driving or walking, as well as to take a boat ride along its length. The tunnel is lit up at night, creating a beautiful spectacle. Adjacent to it are the ponds known as Leeuwert, whereby reeds and various water lilies are grown. These provide opportunities for interesting photographic compositions. On the left side of the tunnel, there is a nice paved road where one can stop and take pictures of the white and black tunnel.
