Whaligoe Steps
📍 United Kingdom
The Whaligoe Steps, located in Highland Council, United Kingdom, are a historic set of stairs carved into a sea cliff that climbs down over 300 feet. The stairs were initially created by fishing families in the early 19th century to transport fish caught in the bottom of the cliff to boats waiting in the harbour. Today, the steps are an impressive sight for tourists, who can take in the amazing views of the North Sea from the top and the beautiful harbour from the bottom. They also provide some stunning photographic opportunities, although sunscreen is highly recommended due to the bright sun reflecting off the water. There are several car parks nearby, but just be aware of the strong winds before setting out.
