Western Wall
📍 Israel
The Western Wall, or Kotel in Hebrew, is the holiest site for Jews worldwide and one of the holiest sites in all of Jerusalem. It is believed to be the last remnant of the Second Jewish Temple, which was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD. Upon the destruction, it is said that the Western Wall was the only part left standing.

Throughout the centuries, Jews have prayed by the Western Wall, often writing their prayers on a piece of paper, rolling them up and placing it in the crevices of the wall. It is also believed that God listens to every prayer uttered at this sacred site. Visitors to the Wall come from all over the world. It is open to all, regardless of religion or background. Both men and women can visit, however men and women pray separately at two adjoining sections of the wall. The Western Wall Plaza is extensive and includes paved walkways, ritual baths, sanctified places and a great reflection pool. There are several exiting sites to visit in the surrounding area, including the Temple Mount, Mount Zion, the Room of the Last Supper, the City of David and the Garden Tomb.
