Wehr Neue Schleuse is a historic lock in Lübben, located in the Lower Spreewald forest in Germany. First documented in 1723, the lock is part of the Peitz-Lübben waterway and the Oder-Spree Canal, which connects the Spree River with the Oder. It is unique in that the water level varies depending upon the tide. The lock has two chambers and a bricked passageway between them. The weir also serves as a popular site for recreational activities such as boating and cycling, providing a scenic view of the surrounding countryside. Visitors to the lock can take a boat trip to explore the nearby village of Lübbenau and the surrounding villages in the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve, or walk along the banks of the Oder to explore the lush forests and many small farms of the region. The Wehr Neue Schleuse is a great destination for visitors looking to experience the simple but beautiful life of the Spreewald.
