Wazir Khan Mosque stands inside Lahore’s Walled City, along the historic route from Delhi Gate toward Lahore Fort. Built between 1634 and 1641 during Shah Jahan’s reign, it was commissioned by the Mughal governor Ilm-ud-Din Ansari, known as Wazir Khan. Its defining feature is the richness of its architectural decoration: kashi-kari tile mosaics cover the entrance and exterior surfaces with floral patterns, geometric designs, and calligraphy in blue, turquoise, green, and yellow, while painted frescoes ornament the interior. Four corner minarets frame a spacious courtyard with a central ablution pool, creating a contrast between the densely decorated walls and open sky. The monumental entrance, seen from the surrounding bazaar, places this elaborate Mughal religious building within the scale and daily activity of the old city.
