Wat Arun, one of the most stunning temples in Bangkok, Thailand, is one of the most visited sites in the city. This magnificent temple stands majestically by the Chao Phraya river and is said to have been built by King Rama II in the early 19th century. It was restored in the 19th century and is now one of the best-known sites in Bangkok. Its most prominent feature is the central prang (Tower of Khmer Architecture), which stands 79-metres tall. The temple complex also features four smaller prangs, pagodas, and a variety of structures, including a library and ordination hall. Within its walls, visitors will find a unique combination of Buddhist and Hindu influences, with beautiful statues and detailed reliefs of animals, gods, and mythical creatures. Visitors can explore around the buildings and climb to the top of the central prang, where they can take in amazing views of the city and the Chao Phraya river. The architecture and intricate details of Wat Arun make it an iconic landmark and a must-visit when in Bangkok.
