The Washington Monument is an iconic and imposing landmark in the nation’s capital. Standing 555 feet tall, it is the world’s tallest obelisk and serves as a memorial to the country's first President and Founding Father, George Washington. Visitors to the monument can take an elevator up to the 500-foot level, where windows offer stunning views of the cityscape. The observation deck is also home to numerous artifacts related to George Washington. There is also free admission for anyone who would like to take a stroll around the grounds of the Washington Monument. This includes views of the National Mall, the Potomac River, the White House and other nearby memorials and attractions. For photographers, the Washington Monument is a great place to capture the beauty of Washington D.C. during sunrise or sunset for stunning photos!
