Volcán San Pedro
📍 From Mirador del Lago Atitlán, Guatemala
Volcán San Pedro is a steep, forested stratovolcano rising to 3,020 metres on the southwestern shore of Lake Atitlán, directly above San Pedro La Laguna in Guatemala’s Sololá department. Its near-symmetrical cone is one of the defining forms of the lake basin, part of a dramatic volcanic skyline shared with Tolimán and Atitlán. The surrounding communities belong to the Tz’utujil Maya cultural region, while cultivated lower slopes give way to dense highland forest near the summit. From across the water, the volcano’s dark profile, lakeside settlement and occasional reflections create the most recognizable composition; from higher ground, it provides broad views over the caldera lake and neighboring peaks.
