Crater Lake, Oregon is a stunning natural wonder. The stunning turquoise lake is located in the south-central part of the Cascade Mountains, and is the volcano caldera of Mount Mazama, which erupted nearly 8,000 years ago. At 1,943 feet (592 meters) deep, it's the deepest lake in the United States. Popular activities include hiking, camping, picnicking, and fishing. There is a trolley ride and boat tours in summer too. The 33-mile Rim Drive and the 32-mile hiking trail will surprise you by its grandeur. You can also visit Wizard Island, a cinder cone, and the iconic Llao Rock. July to September is the best time to visit and explore the area.
