Vivekananda Rock is a popular tourist spot located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, near the town of Kanyakumari. It is a historical monument and considered to be the birthplace of Swami Vivekananda, a spiritual leader who had a huge influence on modern India. The monument consists of two huge rocks separated by a 130 feet gap. A sari-clad statue of the Swami stands atop the rock, facing the sea, while the other rock features statues of Hindu gods and goddesses. A meditation hall and meditation cells can be found at the foot of the rock. The panoramic views from the rock are amazing; at sunset you can catch the sight of both sunrises and sunsets at one spot. A visit to the Vivekananda Rock and Kanyakumari is certainly a must for all true travelers and photographers.
