The views from Cerro del Obispado reveal Monterrey’s defining contrast: a dense modern city framed by the rugged peaks of the Sierra Madre Oriental. Rising just west of downtown, the hill overlooks the skyline, industrial districts, and the distinctive saddle-shaped Cerro de la Silla across the valley. The summit is marked by a monumental Mexican flag, while the nearby 18th-century Bishop’s Palace—now the Regional Museum of Nuevo León—recalls the hill’s strategic role during the 1846 Battle of Monterrey.
