The view from the Rocca looks out from Montefiore dell’Aso, a historic hill town in the southern Marche, across the rolling countryside of the Aso valley. Brick roofs and old walls frame a patchwork of cultivated slopes, olive groves and scattered farmhouses, with the Adriatic coast visible to the east and the Sibillini Mountains rising inland on clear days. The layered ridges are especially distinctive in low light, when shadows emphasize the folds of the landscape and the warm tones of the town’s masonry.
