📍 From Drone, Greenland
Sermersooq Municipality spans Greenland from the west coast to the east, encompassing Nuuk, the capital, as well as Tasiilaq and Ittoqqortoormiit on the eastern coast. Much of its interior lies beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet, while settlements occupy coastal terrain shaped by mountains and deep fjords. Views here can range from Nuuk’s waterfront and developed skyline to small clusters of brightly painted houses beneath steep, rocky slopes. Along the coast, exposed stone, snowfields and dark water create strong contrasts in texture and scale; icebergs and sea ice change the scene according to location and season. The region’s widely separated communities reflect Greenland’s coastal geography, where the sea connects inhabited places around an immense ice-covered interior.
