Views of Pike and San Isabel National Forests
📍 United States
The mountain views around Tincup are shaped by Colorado’s Sawatch Range, whose high crest forms part of the Continental Divide. This former mining settlement sits on the Gunnison National Forest side of the mountains; San Isabel National Forest lies to the east, while Pike National Forest extends farther northeast. Tincup Pass links the town with the historic mining community of St. Elmo across the divide. Dark conifer-covered slopes give way to open alpine terrain and rugged, largely treeless ridgelines, creating a clear visual progression from wooded valleys to the rocky skyline. The contrast between forest textures and exposed mountain rock is a defining feature of this high-country landscape.
