📍 France
Lac d’Anterne lies at about 2,060 metres in the Passy Nature Reserve, on an open alpine plateau beneath the imposing limestone wall of the Rochers des Fiz. The setting is defined by contrasts: still water and broad grassland against pale, sharply layered cliffs, with lingering snowfields and wildflowers adding seasonal detail. In calm conditions, the lake reflects the surrounding ridges, while wider views reveal the scale and exposed character of the high plateau. The site is reached only on foot by mountain trails, and its protected setting calls for careful respect of the landscape and reserve regulations.
