📍 Canada
From Destruction Bay, a small community on the Alaska Highway, views open across Kluane Lake toward the rugged mountains of southwestern Yukon. The settlement lies in the traditional territory of the Southern Tutchone and near the vast mountain landscape of Kluane National Park and Reserve. Kluane Lake’s broad blue surface creates a striking sense of scale against the steep, often snow-streaked ridges; in calm weather, the water adds reflections, while fast-changing cloud and light continually reshape the skyline. The community’s name dates to Alaska Highway construction, when a powerful windstorm destroyed buildings and supplies at the site.
