Wallberg rises to 1,722 metres above Rottach-Egern at the southern end of Lake Tegernsee, forming part of Bavaria’s Mangfall Mountains. Its elevated views reveal the contrast between the Alps and their gentler northern foreland: wooded slopes descend toward lakeside villages, while Tegernsee stretches through the valley below. Looking south, the scene shifts to overlapping mountain ridges rather than open countryside. Near the Wallbergbahn cable car’s upper station, the small Wallberg chapel adds a recognizable human landmark to the broad alpine landscape. Open meadows, dark conifer forests and the lake’s changing blue-green tones give photographs distinct layers of texture and scale; the cable car reaches the upper slopes, not the rocky summit itself.
