Views from Tumgun Lookout
📍 Australia
Tumgun Lookout sits high on the forested headland of Burleigh Head National Park, a pocket of coastal bushland within Queensland’s Gold Coast. Its south-facing panorama takes in the mouth of Tallebudgera Creek, the long arc of Palm Beach and the coastline towards Coolangatta. The meeting of creek and ocean gives the scene its distinctive geometry: pale sandbanks and sheltered blue-green water beside lines of surf breaking along the open beach. Dense vegetation in the foreground contrasts with the beachfront development stretching south, showing how sharply this headland interrupts the urban coast. Reached along the park’s Rainforest Circuit, the lookout also offers a vantage point for spotting migrating humpback whales during winter and spring.
