Tochal rises above Tajrish and Tehran’s northern neighborhoods on the southern edge of the Alborz Mountains. Reaching nearly 4,000 meters, it creates a striking contrast between the capital’s dense urban fabric and the high, rocky terrain immediately behind it. From its slopes on clear days, Tehran spreads southward across the plain, revealing the scale of the city beneath the mountain wall. A cable car climbing from nearby Velenjak links the urban edge with Tochal’s high-altitude ski area.
