Terrazza Umberto I crowns the Bastione di Saint Remy on the southern edge of Cagliari’s historic Castello district. Built in pale limestone over earlier fortifications, the bastion forms a monumental link between the hilltop quarter and the lower city. From the broad terrace, the view opens across tightly packed rooftops toward the Marina district, the port and the Gulf of Cagliari, with church domes, palms and distant hills layering the skyline. The stone balustrades and symmetrical stairways provide strong foreground lines, while the warm Mediterranean light emphasizes the cream-colored masonry and the varied textures of the old city below.
