Valfjäll is a rocky viewpoint on Sydkoster, the larger of the two main Koster Islands off Strömstad on Sweden’s Bohuslän coast. Its elevation reveals the structure of the archipelago: low granite ridges and cultivated clearings in the foreground, then narrow sounds, scattered skerries and the open Skagerrak. The layered shoreline gives photographs a strong sense of depth, while shifting coastal light can turn the same scene from crisp blue expanses to muted, windswept tones. Much of the surrounding sea lies within Kosterhavet National Park, adding a marine conservation context to this distinctly weather-shaped island landscape.
