📍 United States
The views from Sperry Chalet open across the high country above Lake McDonald on the west side of Glacier National Park, Montana. Reached only by trail, this historic backcountry complex belongs to the park’s early twentieth-century network of rustic chalets built for mountain travelers. Its massive stone walls give the foreground a strong sense of scale, while glacier-carved valleys, forested slopes, exposed rock and layered peaks recede into the distance. Changing mountain weather can transform the scene quickly, shifting from crisp ridgelines to clouds moving through the surrounding summits. The main chalet was rebuilt after the 2017 Sprague Fire, preserving the recognizable stone exterior within its dramatic alpine setting.
