Savoca is a small medieval hilltop village in Sicily’s province of Messina, perched above the Ionian coastline and often visited from nearby Taormina. Its compact historic center is defined by narrow, cobbled alleys, weathered stone facades, wrought-iron balconies and small piazzas that preserve a timeless village scale. Savoca gained international recognition for locations used in the film The Godfather, which gives certain streets and a historic bar additional photographic recognition. Photographically, look for tight compositions that emphasize textures, layered rooflines against hillside views and framed glimpses of the sea beyond the village.
