Ponte delle Navi crosses the Adige on the eastern side of Verona’s historic center, linking the old city with Veronetta. Its name, “Bridge of the Boats,” recalls the period when river traffic was central to Verona’s commerce. From the crossing, the Adige forms a broad visual corridor between stone embankments, trees, red-tiled roofs and the towers and domes of the city center; nearby San Fermo also contributes to the layered skyline. The changing surface of the river adds reflections and flashes of green or silver, while the bridge’s central position allows balanced compositions in both directions along the water.
