📍 France
The bridge in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie offers a view into a village built around a steep mountain stream, beneath limestone cliffs in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, near the western end of the Verdon Gorge. Stone buildings, pale façades and terracotta roofs cluster on either side of the ravine, creating a striking contrast between the closely packed houses and the sheer rock above. Notre-Dame-de-Beauvoir chapel stands high above the village, while a star suspended on a cable between two cliffs forms its distinctive emblem. From the bridge, the stream and masonry give the foreground texture and depth, with the cliffs establishing the scale of the setting. Moustiers is also renowned for its faïence pottery, a tradition reflected in the ceramic shops lining its narrow streets.
