The observation deck at Point Lookout overlooks the Pacific from the northeastern tip of North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), off Brisbane’s coast. The island is part of Quandamooka Country, with a living Aboriginal culture closely connected to its land and surrounding waters. Around the headland, dark rock ledges, steep-sided coves and white surf give the coastline its distinctive contrasts, while the nearby North Gorge Walk reveals changing views into the rocky inlets below. The elevated ocean outlook also makes Point Lookout a well-known place to watch migrating humpback whales during winter and spring; their distant blows add a sense of scale to the wide horizon.
