📍 Poland
The Old Town Bridge is a pedestrian crossing over the Lusatian Neisse, linking Zgorzelec with Görlitz in Germany. Its outlook captures the unusual geography of a city divided by the post-1945 border: two urban centers facing each other across a river that is both a national boundary and a shared public space. On the Görlitz side, the twin towers of the Church of St Peter and Paul rise above historic riverside buildings, while embankments, reflections, and passing walkers give the foreground a changing rhythm. The bridge stands near the site of an earlier crossing destroyed at the end of the Second World War and restored the old-town connection when it reopened in 2004.
