📍 Italy
Monte Camoscio rises above Baveno on the western side of Lake Maggiore, overlooking the Borromean Gulf in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. Its elevated perspective reveals the lake’s broad curve, the rooftops and shoreline settlements below, and the Borromean Islands set against layered Alpine ridges. The scene is especially recognizable for the contrast between deep blue water, densely wooded slopes and exposed pale rock linked to the Baveno area’s long granite-working tradition. Wide compositions can include the islands as small focal points within the scale of the lake, while clearer conditions bring sharper separation to the distant mountain skyline. Monte Camoscio is reached by mountain paths; the Via Ferrata dei Picasass is a separate equipped route intended only for properly prepared climbers.
