Mirador Colina Iluminada is a hilltop viewing tower on the edge of Filandia, in Colombia’s Quindío department. Its elevated decks overlook the town’s rooftops and the rolling countryside of the Colombian coffee region, where cultivated slopes, pasture and patches of woodland create a varied green landscape. The panorama connects Filandia’s compact townscape with the agricultural land that has shaped the region’s economy and identity. The tower’s exposed wooden framework adds repeating lines and geometric frames to photographs, while successive ridges give the wider views their layered depth.
