📍 Switzerland
Männlichen is a mountain ridge above Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland, separating the Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen valleys. Its 2,343-metre summit offers a broad panorama of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, with the Eiger’s immense north face giving the skyline its most distinctive wall of rock. The views reveal two contrasting valley landscapes: Grindelwald’s broad basin to the east and Lauterbrunnen’s deeply cut valley to the west. Grassy slopes in the foreground set off the dark cliffs, glaciers and snow-covered heights, giving photographs a clear sense of the scale between alpine pasture and high-mountain terrain. Above the lift station, the Royal Walk leads to a crown-shaped summit viewing platform, while the ridge toward Kleine Scheidegg keeps the great peaks prominent in the landscape.
