The Hofgarten lies beside the Würzburg Residence, the Baroque palace built for the city’s prince-bishops. Its formal paths, clipped hedges, flower beds and sculptures carry the palace’s sense of order into the landscape. From the garden, patterned planting leads the eye toward the Residence’s broad stone façade; from the terraces, the same geometry becomes visible from above. The palace and court gardens together form part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
