Ho‘okipa Beach View Lookout overlooks Ho‘okipa Beach Park on Maui’s north shore, just east of Paia along the Hana Highway. From the headland, the view takes in a sandy shoreline edged by dark volcanic rock, with reef breaks drawing bands of white surf across the blue Pacific. The beach is closely associated with windsurfing: trade winds and ocean swells make colorful sails and riders a recognizable part of the scene. From above, their small scale emphasizes the expanse of ocean beyond the narrow beach. Hawaiian green sea turtles also come ashore here to rest; observe them without approaching or obstructing their route to the water.
