📍 Italy
Carducci Gardens occupy a panoramic terrace on the southern edge of Perugia’s historic centre, beside Piazza Italia and above the remains of the Rocca Paolina, the papal fortress that once dominated this part of the city. Named for the poet Giosuè Carducci, they offer a broad view across the Umbrian valley toward distant hills, including Monte Subasio. Terracotta rooftops fill the foreground, with the substantial bell tower of San Domenico and the pointed tower of San Pietro standing out among the buildings below. The panorama reveals Perugia’s hilltop geography: densely packed brick and stone architecture drops away toward farmland, while overlapping ridgelines give the scene depth beyond the city.
