Via dei Perroni is a narrow street in Lecce’s centro storico, framed by the city’s signature Baroque facades carved from warm pietra leccese. The lane presents a compact gallery of ornate portals, wrought-iron balconies and deeply modeled cornices whose low-relief sculptures and grotesque masks catch raking light. Visually, the street excels in texture and intimate perspective: the honey-colored stone, layered shadow between opposing buildings, and repeating balcony rhythm create a strong linear vanishing point ideal for composition. Late-afternoon sun brings out the stone’s ochre tones and the carved reliefs’ depth; wet pavement after rain amplifies reflections and color saturation. Respectful behavior is expected in the small historic quarter where daily life and preserved architecture coexist.
