The Vestiges du Château de Rochetaillée are the remains of a 12th century castle in the idyllic region of Saint-Étienne in France. Located on a ridge in the forest of Isable, the vestiges offer a perfect opportunity to learn and explore the history of the 12th century northern Forez. The entrance to the castle is bounded by a wooden fence and you will find the remnants of a stronghold, courtyard and outer walls. All brightened up by a playful crowd of peacocks fanning their tail feathers around the ruins. There's also a nice stretch of meadow with wild flowers, people used to picnic and camp in the castle grounds. The whole area has amazing views of the mountain and valley sides of northern forez. In the vicinity of the castle, you will also find a 2.5km long walking trail, conveniently located in the beautiful forest of Isable.
