
Vernonia’s Oregon American Sawmill is the site of a former lumber mill located in the city of Vernonia, in the state of Oregon, United States. The sawmill was in operation from 1915 to 1967. Visitors to the site can explore the remaining historic buildings and machinery, including the remains of a beehive burner boiler, which was built in the 1940s. The site provides trails, picnic areas and other outdoor activities, allowing visitors to catch a glimpse of the mill’s bustling past. The nearby woods are home to a variety of wildlife, from deer to hawks and eagles. Visitors can also explore the mill's historical importance at the Vernonia Historical Society Harvest Days event, which highlights the region's rich logging history.
