Vermelha and Copacabana Beach

Vermelha and Copacabana Beach, located in the South zone of Rio de Janeiro, are two of the most emblematic beaches of the "Cidade Maravilhosa" (Wonderful City). Copacabana is a 4 km long beach and is surely iconic, recognized for its unique waves and for hosting big events like the Copacabana New Year's night fireworks. Vermelha is more private and famous for its natural indoor pool and calm environment. Both beaches are surrounded by mountains and offer stunning views of the sea. The most representative attraction is the Copacabana Fort, an old portuguess fortification. There are lots of places to stay, all kinds of restaurants, and plenty of options for beach games. The nearby neighborhoods like Ipanema and Leblon are also worth a visit.
