The Gloriette and Ramp form part of Várkert Bazár, the Neo-Renaissance ensemble at the foot of Buda Castle, facing the Danube. Designed by Miklós Ybl in the late 19th century, the structure turns the steep slope between the riverfront and the royal gardens into a ceremonial sequence of terraces, stairways, arches and balustrades. Its layered geometry is especially distinctive in photographs: long diagonal ramps contrast with ornate stonework, while openings and elevated terraces frame views toward the Danube and Pest. The restored architecture also provides a clear visual link between Budapest’s monumental castle skyline and the urban waterfront below.
