V&A East Storehouse is the Victoria and Albert Museum’s public collections facility at Here East in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, separate from the V&A East Museum on Stratford Waterfront. Created within the former London 2012 broadcast complex, it turns museum storage into the visitor experience: dense racks, conservation areas and large architectural fragments are arranged around the soaring Weston Collections Hall. Open shelving and elevated walkways reveal the scale and variety of the V&A’s holdings, from furniture and textiles to stage costumes, archives and design objects. The layered sightlines, industrial structure and suspended exhibits give photographs an unusual sense of depth and scale. Through the “Order an Object” service, visitors can also book access to examine selected collection items with museum staff.
