📍 From Strandkaien, Norway
Valbergtårnet is a former fire-watch tower on Valberget, the hill above Vågen harbor in central Stavanger. Built in 1853, it provided a lookout over a town whose closely packed wooden buildings were vulnerable to fire; watchmen continued working here until 1922. Its octagonal stone form contrasts with the timber houses below, making the tower a recognizable landmark in the historic center. The hilltop setting offers views across the rooftops toward the waterfront, placing the tower in the wider scene of Stavanger’s harbor and old streets.
