📍 Switzerland
Utoquai is the lakeside boulevard and promenade on Lake Zürich’s eastern shore, extending south from Bellevue alongside the Seefeld district. It belongs to the public quays developed in the late 19th century, which helped reshape Zürich’s relationship with its lake by creating a waterfront for strolling and recreation. The Seebad Utoquai, opened in 1890, is a distinctive landmark: its pale wooden pavilions and bathing decks sit over the water, contrasting with the larger buildings lining the boulevard. Trees along the promenade frame views across the lake toward the opposite shore, while clear weather reveals the Alps to the south. Swimmers, sailing boats and passenger vessels add a seasonal rhythm to this meeting point of city life and open water.
