Urkulu Urtegia is a beautiful sanctuary located in the mountains of Goroeta, in northern Spain. It is a place of peace and tranquility that has been a pilgrimage site since the 12th century. Located at the foot of the Urbasa mountain range, the place is known for its serene views of the mountains and its lush vegetation. Its stone-paved sacristy still serves as the final destination of religious pilgrimages. The old constructions and chapels offer a glimpse of ancient religious and cultural traditions. The highest point of the sanctuary is called Urkulu, which gives its name to the whole ensemble. This is an interesting spot for hikers and nature lovers, full of breathtaking vistas. One can also find a secluded swimming pool and a viewpoint at the highest spot of Urkulu, from which the Gudar and Verica mountain ranges, as well as the surrounding valley can be admired.
