Unterstsee is a small lake near Fläsch in Graubünden’s Bündner Herrschaft, a wine-growing area of the Rhine valley. It offers a quieter view of the landscape than the vineyards and village streets nearby: the shoreline gives the scene its shape, while reflections on the water bring the surrounding terrain into the frame. Its name means “lower lake,” a simple description rooted in the area’s geography.
