Unisphere is a prominent 12-story steel globe located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Corona, Queens, New York City, United States. First built for the 1964 World's Fair, the Unisphere is now the symbol of the global interconnection of people and technology. It stands 140 feet (43 m) high and weighs nearly 700 tons. It is 125 feet (38 m) in diameter and consists of 9 equatorial and three polar bands that are meant to represent the oceans and the continents of the world. The Unisphere is illuminated from above to reflect the night sky and changing holidays and seasons. It has become a popular destination for visitors and photographers to capture the iconic symbol of peace and unity.
