📍 From Umhlanga Beach, South Africa
The Umhlanga Lighthouse stands tall at the entrance of the Umhlanga Rocks resort near Durban. Located on the shoreline of the Indian Ocean, this lighthouse is one of the best landmarks in the region. The lighthouse was completed in 1954 with two floors on top of a two-story concrete foundation. Built by the Municipality of Durban, it was constructed to serve vessels coming in and out of the Durban Port. It stands 30 meters tall and its beacon can be seen from 6 to 14 nautical miles away. It is the only lighthouse in South Africa that is open to the public. During the day, it provides a great view over the Umhlanga Rocks area and a great photo spot. The Umhlanga Lighthouse is a must-see for visitors and photographers visiting the area.
